Hi all, I’m Brielle Hagemeier!
I am a senior studying Elementary Education and am currently Student Teaching in the 1st grade. I will graduate from UNL in May!
I have been blessed with a wonderful family! My dad Larry enjoys spending his time farming, fishing, and golfing. My mom Judy enjoys spending her time as a cosmetologist, reading, and biking. I have one older brother, Spencer, and Sister-in-Law, Ellen. I was born and raised a country girl and my parents live on our farm outside of Beatrice, Nebraska. I loved growing up in a rural setting, with the small-town, close-knit community feel. I went to Tri County K-12 school, literally out in the middle of cornfields! My graduating class size was 34 people, so being at UNL has definitely broadened my horizons!
A couple interesting facts about me include that I love being at Lake Okoboji, I enjoy going to farmers markets, I love a good DIY project, and I jump at every chance I get to country line and swing dance! I also love going on adventures, whether big or small, because I feel like it’s not always about the destination, but rather about the journey. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Brazil last summer with the CYAF Study Abroad Program. Brazil was an amazing time and helped me grow in so many ways.
What I am most looking forward to in India is to simply dive into their culture, learn more about the people, and the history behind the country. I think exploring the land and getting a perspective on human trafficking will be very valuable experiences as well. These experiences will help me better understand the issues and narrow in on what can be done to help prevent and spread awareness on human trafficking. I know I will learn so much more than what I can even begin to describe here, even if it’s in the most unexpected of things!
