Heyy, my name is Shannon Guy!

I am a senior (undergraduate) psychology major with minors in child youth family studies and business.

I was born and raised (for the most part) in Omaha. I lived in Tucson, AZ for a brief four years of my childhood. The majority of my extended family also lives in Omaha/Council Bluffs. Having family close to me has always been a priority and a major reason why I decided to attend UNL. The other reason was to be apart of an amazing division one athletic program in swimming. After swimming competitively for 13 years I officially hung up my swimsuit to dry. I am currently trying to find my next passion in live.

My dad owns his own company called Granite Homes where he remodels and build houses. My mom is a personal trainer at Prairie Life. I have one sister who is a senior at Millard West High School and will be attending UNK in the fall. We have two very entertaining dogs, who are very much apart of our family named Cooper (a 1 year old shih shu) and Macy (a 4 year old yorkie). We enjoy spending time together watching movies and eating sweets.

Going to India will be the first time out of the country. While I have traveled all over the U.S. and have meet a lot of wonderful and interesting people, I am super excited to learn  about a new culture that is very different from mine. I have an interest in human services and helping people so learning more about human trafficking is going to be helpful knowledge for the future. I am also a huge animal lover so spending two days on a safari is going to amazing. Overall, this trip is going to be life changing and I cannot wait to embrace every eye opening experience.
